At 26, Kate Thomas is pursuing her own creative voice and life’s passions as a journalist and producer of media. She specializes in documentaries and short form stories, and as a host of travel/culture content. She went to film school at the University of Southern California for undergrad, and she recently finished her graduate studies at NYU for broadcast journalism and documentary. She hopes to make her mark on American media by sharing her insatiable passion for understanding other ways of life – from around the corner to around the globe. She wants to help spread an appreciation for the richness of the world’s cultures and unveil the behavioral commonalities among us that make us human. Her mission is to help people in their pursuit of a more fulfilling life, enriching their lives with an understanding of others.
Fluent in French and Spanish, and proficient in Italian, Kate can communicate with close to 50% of the world’s population. Her schooling and professional experience, her diverse travels, her linguistic abilities and her profound passion for learning about different cultures poise Kate in an excellent position to achieve her goals.
Kate comes from a family of entertainers and storytellers. Kate’s father, Tony Thomas, is a television and film producer whose works include iconic American entertainment like The Golden Girls and Dead Poet’s Society. Her aunt, Marlo Thomas, is an actress and 6-time, best-selling author who achieved great success as the star of That Girl and children’s programming entitled Free To Be You and Me. Her late grandfather, Danny Thomas, was a comedian, actor, producer and philanthropist, most famous for his repertoire of comedic stories, his television show, Make Room for Daddy and for founding St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
